Current Foundation Studies Class Description

The Foundation Studies class this year will be led by Todd Corbett at the CSS meeting hall at 5440 Saratoga street, and will run from October 2 through June 11. The meetings are scheduled to begin most Wednesdays at 2:30 PM for 30 minutes, and will then merge with Todd’s Practitioners group for another 90 minutes, from 3-4:30 PM.  These meetings will also be available through Zoom for those unable to attend in person.

To allow more focus on Foundational practices and teachings, we will also be meeting once a month for 90 minutes; the Foundation Studies participants will be determining the dates and times for these meetings each month.

The Foundation Studies course is intended to introduce participants to foundational teachings and practices of the major mystical traditions.  It includes instruction for practices of meditation and working with precepts, as well as readings from Joel's book The Way of Selflessness.  Optionally, you may also wish to supplement your learning experience by reading books from the recommended reading list, most of which may be found in the CSS library.

Completion of the FS course is generally recommended as prerequisite for attending other regular practitioner groups and CSS sponsored retreats.

If you do register for the Foundation Studies Course we ask that you become a supporting member of the Center. For more information about this, please read our  member documents.
